The ONEIH-Kola Balogun Technology Centre (O-KBTC) is poised to commence its operations with the installation of advanced equipment and the practical fabrication of double-sided printed circuit boards (PCBs, also known as motherboards)This significant event will take place from August 26 to August 31, 2024, marking a major milestone in the centre’s mission to foster technological innovation and development in West Africa. The installation phase will include state-of-the-art PCB and drone equipment, setting the stage for a series of hands-on training sessions.
The training sessions are divided into two.
The first phase of the training will take place vis-a-vis installation (August 12th–16th, 2024). For senior professionals and academicians. The first training is sponsored by Momas Electricity Meter Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMMCOL),
The second session of the training will take place between August 26 – 31, 2024 for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and unemployed graduates. The second training is sponsored by the National Productivity Centre (NPC)
These sessions are aimed at individuals with backgrounds in engineering, science, and practical electronics. Interested participants are encouraged to apply via the following link: [https://bit.ly/3vjTN6v](https://bit.ly/3vjTN6v).
The commissioning of O-KBTC on December 28, 2023, heralded the arrival of West Africa’s first facility dedicated exclusively to drone design, assemblage, manufacturing, repairs, and maintenance. Additionally, the centre focuses on Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA). The official commissioning was led by the esteemed Olofa of Offaland, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola, Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I. His presence underscored the crucial role of technological advancement in the region.
Under the visionary leadership of Engr. (Dr.) Moshood Kola Balogun, O-KBTC aims to revolutionise West Africa’s technology landscape. The centre is expected to foster collaboration, drive research efforts, and spark a new era of technological growth in the region. The establishment of this dedicated PCB manufacturing facility is a significant milestone, reducing reliance on imports and encouraging local innovation.
Engr. Balogun’s commitment to this initiative highlights the importance of such projects in driving progress and economic development. The commissioning of O-KBTC is anticipated to not only boost the manufacturing sector but also create new opportunities for research, development, and job creation in West Africa. With the launch of the ONEIH-Kola Balogun Technology Centre, the region is set to tap into the vast potential of PCB technologies, positioning itself as a key player in the global PCB industry.
